Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a British novelist and historian best known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes. His later decades were taken up with his advocacy of the new religion of Spiritualism, in which he was a devoted believer. He also wrote historical novels, including ‘The White Company’,  which he considered his favourite.
